(1 to 4 inches <br />thick) <br />821t 2-5" -- Grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) silty clay, dark grayish brown (2.5Y <br />4/2) moist; strong medium columnar structure; extremely hard, firm, sticky <br />and plastic; many very fine and fine roots; many very fine and fine and few <br />medium pores; few discontinuous faint unstained sand grains on vertical faces <br />of peds; moderately thick continuous clay film on faces of peds; mildly <br />alkaline (pH 7.7); clear wavy boundary. (0 to 4 inches thick) <br />B22t 5'11" -- Grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) silty clay, dark grayish brown (2.SY <br />4/2) moist; strong medium prismatic structure parting to strong fine and <br />medium angular blocky; extremely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; many very <br />fine and fine roots and pores; moderately thick continuous clay film on faces <br />of peds; ,slightly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.3); clear wavy <br />boundary. (6 to 20 inches thick) <br />63cs 11-16" -- Grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) silty clay, dark grayish brown (2.5Y <br />4/2) moist; strong fine and medium subangular blocky structure; extremely <br />hard, friable, sticky and plastic; many very fine and fine roots and pores; <br />few very fine masses of lime; fine and medium gypsum crystals; strongly <br />effervescent; strongly alkaline; clear wavy boundary. (4 to 12 inches thick) <br />Clcs 16-32" -- Grayish brown (2.SY 5/2) silty clay, dark grayish brown (2.5Y <br />4/2) moist; massive; extremely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; many very fine <br />and fine roots and pores; many medium and coarse gypsum crystals; strongly <br />effervescent; strongly alkaline (pH 8.8); clear wavy boundary. (8 to <br />14 inches thick) <br />C2cs 32-42" -- Grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) silty clay, dark grayish brown (2.5Y <br />4/2) moist; massive; extremely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; common very <br />fine and fine roots; many very fine and fine and few medium pores; common <br />gypsum crystals; common salt crystals; slightly effervescent; strongly <br />alkaline (pH 8.4); diffuse wavy boundary. (9 to 18 inches thick) <br />C3cs 42-60" -- Very pale brown (lOYR 7/3) clay, grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) and <br />brown (lOYR 5/3) moist; varves that are silt loam and of one centimeter <br />average thickness and massive; extremely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; few <br />very fine and fine roots; few very fine and fine gypsum crystals; slightly <br />effervescent; strongly alkaline (pH 8.5). <br />Sampling Locations: Based on SCS Soil Series Description. <br />Ex. 15-9 <br />
