<br />The Tert~~ soils occur on uplands. The slope range is
<br />5 Lo 20 percent. The plant cover consists mainly of
<br />grasses, such as sand bluestem, sandreed, mtd little blue-
<br />St Clil.
<br />'Phesc Soils are not. so deep ns Lhe Vebar soils. The}
<br />have a lighter colm•ed surface ]aper than the ~/char soils,
<br />gold they have calciwri carbonate horizons, which the
<br />\/char soils lack. They are coarser featured than the Ulm

<br />'19,is series consists of well-drained, modern.tt;ly coarse
<br />textured UhesLnuL soils. These soils developed in arkosic
<br />cotton sand, probably re++'orl:ed alluvium and outmost
<br />derived from the lla+vson formation. In most plaua:
<br />LLese soils have a dark-colored A horizon and a +veal
<br />Lexl.m•a.l B horizon. Normally they aa•e nalealcareous
<br />but i.hey aa•e s)i(;htly calcareous in places.
<br />The slope range is 1 to 20 percent. The native vegeta
<br />lion is maaniy sand bluestem, sanrh'eed, and big blue
<br />stem, but: bloc. grama a.nd little bluestem also ;;row on
<br />these soils.
<br />1'he '1'1'aC1iLOll soils have a. textw'a] B horizon, which
<br />the Blal.-eland soils lack. The TruckLOn soils are coarser
