survey (for relevant hydrologic structures only).
• Transportation Facilities
The following describes the existing transportation facilities within the permit area.
Haulage Roads. There are currently approximately 2900 feat of existing haulage roads (HGLF-HRl)
within the permit area. The 2900 feet starts at the southwest corner of the permit area (near
Routt County Read 53) and progresses to the entranw gate for the trurJc dump. The haul road than
continues through the gate to the Truk Dump Hopper. The first section of haul road continues
Bast but 1B Controlled by Peabody Waatern 0081 Company elxl 19 known 88 the tre-8CL099 hdnlLOdd.
The existing haul roads wBra constructed in accordance with regulations as described in Appendix
12-3.
Figure 12-1 xas originally included in the H-G Coal Company appliwti~ and pertains only to the
section of road listed above. At the present time only one additional haulage road (HGLF-HR2) ie
proposed as shown on Exhibit 12-5. The majority of thin road is in an area previously disturbed.
Ditches will be constructed on either aide o£ the road (nee Exhibit 12-2, Ditch A) . Ditch
designs era Shown in Appendix 12-4. The road hoe been designed and Mill be constructed in
accordance with the regulations as described in r:- ~+= 12-3.
Existing and proposed culverts within the pernit boundary are shown on Exhibit 12-2, Surfaw
Water Control Plan, and listed on Table 12-1. Proposed culvert design information is shown in
r~ •+~+ 12-4.
Acwss Roads. There is curzantly one acwsa road within the permit area. The acoasa road starts
at HR1 at the west entranw to the lwdout area and progresses to the offiw building. Fx~ the
offiw building the acoass road continues on to the crusher and then on to the loadout facility.
The alignment of the access road ie shown on Exhibit 12-2. The existing acwss road ie
approximately 20 feet wide. Drainage fx+om the road is contxnllad by existing ditches 1 and 6.
The acxeea road has been constructed in accordanw xith the regulation as described in ?~ ^+_
12-3.
Light-Use Roads. Thera ^•^°^t1y is one light-use road within the present permit boundary. The
light-use road extand9 from the proposed haul road HR-2 to monitoring well H(~IAi.2.
Railroad Spur. The Hayden lAilrlt railroad spur begins approximately 0.3 miles seat of the
easterly city limits of Hayden, Colorado. As shown on Exhibit 12-1, it extends approximately two
miles in a southerly direction to the coal handling and train load-out facilities. The
approximate track length o£ the railroad spur is 3.3 miles. The purpose of the railroad spur is
to provide a connection to the existing Union Pacific trackage for loading and transporting mined
. coal. A zeprint of the Railroad 9^~ Typical Section is shown here 88 Figure 12-2.
it°N-o
3 Revised 10/97
