03/12/2007 14:19
Apri16, 2007
RB: Permit #M2a
Denver Brick
Kiowa Clay It
To Whom It May
First I would like t~
owner north-east o
Coumy Road 89.9:
before now. We w
health problems. I
property next door
real estate agent tb
do nothing. I have
nothing. I can not
not sell this house
is really sad that A
operation as to the
why they can not 1
letters, make phon
This is a dirt road
property is worth.
know what is goin
2758 JAMES RINER
Elbert County, Colorado
PAGE 02
introduce myself. My name is Rickie L. Riner and I am a property
the proposed I{iowa Clay Mine. Our physical address is: 26753
Ramah, Colorado. I also need to explain why I have not responded
xe set to put our house on the market to sell because of my husband's
,Has totally unaware that Acme Brick was going to start mining the
ttttil a sign was posted on the fence a few weeks ago. I comacted the
t was going to list our home with my concerns and he said to say and
tried to make a decision about this and can NOT sit back and do
to what Acme Brick has dons to all of the property owners here. I can
~ someoae and let them be unaware as to what is going to happen. Tt
me Brick could not send all property owners directly affected by their
intentions, since there are only eight of us. I really do not understand
t us know in writing what they intend to do, but we have to write
calls and drive to get the information we need to make a decision.
nd truck traffic will defitutely affect how we live and what our
3o person is going to buy a home on speculation. I currently do not
to happen because no one has the same story.
Iiow can anyone believe Acme Brick when they have difficulty disclosing their true
intentions from the start? They say they are going to keep our road maintained but they
don't do that at their other mine. One person says they are going to mine only one month
a year and another says eventually the mine will be in full operation in a few years and it
will run 6 months bout of the year. The trucks will run from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm six days a
week Banks and ~Gcsso says they are within the law but I would like just a little bit
more. The whole i th would be nice since my crystal ball just hasn't been working
lately.
~ it belon to
I also have a couple of concerns and a question. Since the original perm ged
I)ettver Brick and~Denver Brick sold the property to Acme Brick why does Acme Brick
not have to apply for a whole new permit with Elbert County? If a private land owner
sold a property the new owner would have to do so, wouldn't they?
l also have great concern with the road situation. I have lived here for a few years now
and before the new road base vehicles would flip at my corner and end up upside down In
the ditch. Well, with heavy trunk traffic it won't be long before the road base will be
destroyed and I'11~ be back to calling 911. Next, the trceks have to enter back onto
Highway 86 to go back to Castle Rock. Is Acme Brick going to install a traffic signal at
our intersection since looking to the west is completely blind? If you are going east no
