Also, drill
holes and access roads located in the SW~N[d[y Sec. 22 (D.H. U7-22-1),
the S[~ Sec. 22 (D.H. IF7-22-:~, and the SE'k.,SE'k. Sec. 28 (D.H. 67-28-1) of
T.75, R102W., 6th P.P[, were inspected. Blocks of land were inspected in
the NHS Sec. 9, and the SWSd'Sec. 27, T. 75., R.102 W., 6th P.M. The
areas surveyed are marked on the attached copies of 7.5 min, maps in red.
The proposed sites range in elevation from 5600' to 7200'. They gen-
trolly fall within the upper Sonoran and Transitional ecozones. The valley
bottom contains a predominance of greasewood, sage, and rabbitbrush; the
slopes below 6500' have pinyon pine, ~uniner, black sage, and rabbitbrush;
and the higher slopes contain oakbrush and mountain mahogeny. The geology
is the pfount Garfield Formation. The val]ey bottom is made up of alluvial
deposits. The surface visibility at the time of the surveys was over
fifty per cent.
INVENTORY METHODOLOGY
The objective of the investigation was a one hundred per cent coverage
of the area to be disturbed by the construction of the proposed new roads,
exploratory drilling, and land tracts. This was accomplished by:
1. The proposed access roads were walked in transects spaced at
. 5 meter intervals covering a minimum of a 50' right-of-way.

2. The drill holes were inspected in a spiraling transect from
the flagged center point to a radius point some 35 meters
distant thus covering a minimum area of 150' in diameter.
In certain cases the brush would not allow an exact spiral,
however, all the exposed surface ground was inspected for
the 25 meter radius.
3. The tracts of land were walked in transects spaced at 25
meter intervals when the ground was flat. Transects were
__ __,walked along the benches of_the contours when the steep
