<br />EXHIBIT D (Cont'd) <br />divided into two limited impact permit areas, one north <br />of Alameda Parkway and the other south of the parkway. <br />The permit areas were named North Chieftain and South <br />Chieftain. The South Chieftain site includes the Chieftain <br />South Pit and the Chieftain South South Pit. <br />This permit application includes only lands south of <br />Alameda Parkway. None of the land known as North Chieftain <br />Pit is included. The areas referred to as Chieftain South <br />South and Chieftain South and most of the area between Chieftain <br />South and Chieftain South South are included in the applica- <br />tion. <br />Clay from these pits has supplied a great deal of the <br />clay and silica sands requirements for brick for a large <br />part of ROBCO's market in the Denver ?Setropoli'tan area for <br />approximately 34 years. <br />Current Conditions. Map Exhibit C shows the outline of <br />the affected land, touching landowners, topography, hydrologic <br />factors and existing facilities. ?.Sap Exhibit I-1 depicts <br />current soil conditions, and Map Exhibit J-1 depicts current <br />vegetation on the affected land. <br />Mining has been in progress for 34 years on two parts of <br />the affected land. Spoil stockpiles and soil stockpiles, as <br />well as clay which is being extracted under a 110 permit, <br />are located on the land. The existing disturbed area is <br />shown on Map Exhibit C. <br />No buildings or other structures are located on the affected <br />land or within two hundred feet of the boundaries thereof.
