z.
Attachment #6 -Division of Wildlife. - "Consider leaving a portion as wetlands"
There is a large eagle nest in one of the dead trees next to the river that is usually
occupied in late Oct/Nov of each year.
Attachment #7 -Ms. Nan Bedau of the La Plata Planning Department has quite a
list of requirements that are to happen prior to Planning Commission
Consideration. One of which is for us to grant an additional right of way. This we
are not willing to do.
Attachment #8 -This is a copy of the newspaper article when we went to the
Planning Department & BOCC to ask to add only One residence to our 20 acres.
Attachment #9 -This is a list of requests by the County Planning Department most
of which have not been taken care of at this point.
We don't disagree with any of the attachments. They seem to point out that there is
a multitude of things against placing a gravel pit in this pristine agricultural area.
Just the name "Gravel Pit" has a demeaning ring.
My Wife and I worked for three years to clean up and remodel this home at the cost
of several thousands of dollars. We installed 21 large windows to take advantage of
the wonderful view of the valley and wildlife that feeds there. At age 70 we are not
looking forward to having to move to find something that allows the beauty and
quiet we are enjoying here. The land in question is choice irrigated land. The
neighbors on both sides (to the north and south) seem to do just fine. The
management of this property in the past seems to be in question. The previous
owners acknowledge that the area is agricultural and nothing more. To destroy this
property with a gravel pit would be an atrocity. To think of living next to a gravel
pit is unthinkable.
Other gravel pits in the area have had their problems with neighbors and lawsuiits.
Please understand that this project will be an extreme hardship on our family.
Respectfully, ~ _
i _ _
4 ~ ~L
C.M. Gundersen
7~• G'-~
