SUM~h1ARY OF COALDALE MIPlIfIG PLAN BY AREA
• (Refer to Mining Plan Maps for Locations)
Copper Hill
Including all "North End" development and extraction, this area com-
prises 25 acres of affected land. Extraction of gypsum from the "North
Ehd" dates back to the early 1900's and old mine cuts can still be seen
in the northernmost part of the mine land, named "North Ridge". Copper
Hill, however, is the newest major development area and contains substantial
reserves of high grade ore. Development and extraction was initiated in
1974 and will continue for the life of the mine. Reclamatior. efforts will
start on the east side of Copper Hill and the North end dump within the
• next five years, although the greater part of the Copper Hill/North End will
be in close proximity to mining activites for the life of the deposit. Add-
itional reserves may be found directly under existing proven reserves in this
area, which would result in delay in initiation of the final stage of reclam-
at ion efforts on the Coaldale Deposit. In reference to the overlay map,
Copper Hill is a large waste in,7ection, intruded between bed numbers 2 and 3.
The gypsum from bed number 2 can be seen as a veneer on the East side of
Copper Hill, and the ore body extends to the East-Northeast at a 55 degree
dip. It is to the Northeast of Copper Hill that the main ore body is
found. Thirty foot benches will be developed on this side to facilitate
extraction of gypsum to atleast the 6750 foot elevation and possible as deep
as 6700, pending further deep exploration drilling in the area.
• ,
