bed thickness increased and bed thickness ranged from
.• 6" to 15'. The fracture plane of both of these sets
were open indicating the rock is being subjected to
tensional forces. Fracture length in the vertical
direction (dip extent) did not extend beyond the
individual outcrop and could not be traced to units
above or below."
It should be noted that Mr. Pulse's comments recorded above
were aimed towards delineating roof control problems and
were not specifically designed to aid fault interpretation
in the area. We know that at the scale of high altitude
Landsat imagery there exists a significant lineament swarm
in the area of the 2 West fault. It is felt that this
~• lineament pattern is in fact enhanced by localized increases
in jointing pattern. The field work that was mentioned in
Mr. Pulse's report failed to confirm the extent of actual
displacement faulting in the direction of the river.
Structural Analysis of the Empire Mine Area by Ronald W. Marrs
"The purpose of this project was to make a structural
analysis,of the Empire Mine area using aerial photography
as a chief source of data, supplemented by appropriated
applications of image enhancement, statistical evaluation,
and field checks.
•
'l J
