ANALYSIS
Permanent Diversion
Flows
A review of the permanent diversion (Starkville Gulch) flaw
records shows that the greatest flaws occurred within the first
year of the permit term. Flows were recorded on b-6, 7-25, and
8-b, 1983 with a range of 22.6-25.05 cfs.
The next significant flow occurred in the summer of 1985 with the
• greatest being 15.3 cfs on 8-1-85.
C
Rainfall records for the period 5-29 through b-2-86 showed heavy,
steady rainfall; however flows from the diversion were minor.
These data were recorded during daylight hours and are correct.
The cause for these factors is that the landowner's stock ponds,
east of the disturbed area, were preventing higher peak flows.
The data further indicates that the greatest flows are associated
with mid to late summer thunderstorms. Very little, if any,
runoff occurs during the winter; spring runoff is less
significant than the summer thunderstorms.
170
