• Cleaned wal will be produced at a rate of about 116 TPH with a net
surface moisture of about 7.018. Most moisture will reside on the
fine size fractions. It will be conveyed directly to a coal-bin
loadout structure where it will be loaded into trucks. The trucking
operation from the Hawk's Nest East facilities to the present location of the
surge pile may remain the same. ~e refuse will care out at a rate of
about 34 TPH with a net surface rroisture of about 16.6. It will be
conveyed to a 25 tai truck loadout bin. The refuse will be hauled to
a landfill disp~al site on federal land some 25 miles fran the mine site
between the towns of Hotchkiss and Paonia. ~e refuse piles will be
reclaimed and revegetated on a continuous basis.
Water in the plant is recycled thmuc~ the use of a static thickener,
the thickener bottom's being dried using a vacuum filter and put on
a product belt. When pond capacity becrnes limited,
they will be cleaned. No water will be allowed to overflow into the
river.
'Itao ponds will be dug into the ground surface 8' - 10' deep, and coated
with 6" of Bentonite clay. The sides of the ponds will be sloped 25°
from horizontal. No water will be allowed to enter the river unless
it o~rg~lies with the water discharge permit - CO - 0033146.
Operational rronitoring will be conducted to comply with discharge
permit 00033146.
•
-8-
