The
t surface horizon is a thin stony loam only a few inches thick. The subsoil horizon
continues to a depth of about 12 inches and is similar in composition to the surface,
but is considerably more stony. The substratum begins at a depth of 20 inches
' and consists of hard limestone.
' M2-C 4lormser Silt Loam
1-5Y Slopes
' pH: 6.6-8.4
Permeability .2-2.0 in/hr
Wormser soils are moderately deep, moderately well drained soils of the foothills
t zone. The surface horizon consists of loam or silt loam and is about 6 inches
thick. The subsoil, about 36 inches in depth, is mostly clay loam. At this point
the substratum begins which is a sandstone bedrock. The permeability of this soil
' type is moderately slow.
' M4-E Strouoe Extremely Stony Loam
9-25b Slopes
pH: 7,4-7.8
Permeability: .2-Z.0 in/hr
Stroupe soils are shallow, stony and rocky, well drained, and of an undulating
' nature. They are situated in the foothills of the area, and were formed in clayey
parent materials derived from sandstone. The surface horizon, about 5 inches
thick, is brown stony loam. The subsoil horizon, to about 16 inches, consists
of a reddish bro~,vn stony clay loam. Fractured sandstone bedrock comprises the sub-
stratum, beginning at about 16 inches.
1

1
