Structural geologic information is available <br />from Carpen (1957), and ground water data is available from <br />Voegeli (1965). In addition to these publications, records <br />of the existing Canadian Strip Mine and files of the Color- <br />ado Division of Water Resources were reviewed for this <br />report. <br />Seven test holes were utilized in defining the ground water <br />regime on the 90-acre tract. These wells, identified on <br />Plate 1, consist of two series of test holes constructed <br />by the USGS in their coal evaluation program and one <br />series of wells constructed by Wyoming Fuel Co. Holes <br />J6A and J6B were constructed in 1977 by the Survey and are <br />• described in Open File Report 77-888 (Madden, 1977). <br />Hole Jmm2 was constructed by the Survey in 1979 and is <br />described in Open File Report 79-1629 (Piccirilli, 1979). <br />Each of the survey holes was sampled, geophysically logged <br />and filled. <br />Four test wells were constructed by Wyoming Fuel Company. <br />These wells were drilled, sampled and cased with 4" diameter <br />PVC casing. Logs of each of these wells are presented in <br />Appendix A. These wells and information from the highwall <br />of the existing pit which bounds the north edge of the lease <br />were used to define the hydrology of the lease tract. <br />• 2 <br />
