779.15 GROUND WATER INFORMATION

General Setting
The Wyoming Fuel Co. lease lies in the northeast corner of
North Park, a large intermontane basin bounded on the east
by the Front Range, Never Summer and Medicine Bow mountains
and on the west by the Park Range and Williams Fork mountains.
The North Park basin is underlain by a thick sequence of
sediments ranging in age from Permian to Recent. (Voegeli,
1965). These sediments fill a large synclinal depression
between the bounding ranges. Within this synclinal depression
lie numerous smaller structural features. One such feature,
the McCallum Anticline, is the site of the Wyoming Fuel Co.
. Lease.
The McCallum anticline is a local structural feature extending
roughly north to north westerly through townships 8 and 9i~,
R.78W in the northeastern part of the park. The Wyoming Fuel
Co. lease consists of a 90 acre tract located on the southeast
flank of the anticline in Sec. 11, T8N,R78W in Jackson County.
Data Sources
There are a number of sources currently available which
deal with the geology and hydrology of this portion of North
Park.
