4-56 <br />o All mine site personnel will be familiarized <br /> <br />with restriction and regulations that are part <br />of this plan at the time of employment at the <br />mine site. <br />• <br />Resource Monitoring <br />A monitoring program under the direction of the Environ- <br />mental Engineer will be established to routinely gather <br />data on site area wildlife resources. The program out- <br />lined is designed to provide both observational data on <br />relative abundance of area wildlife species and more spe- <br />cific data on important species (i.e. raptors, game species, <br />endangered species) and habitat (i.e. raptor nesting lo- <br />cations, fawning grounds, possible migration routes). Pri- <br />mary emphasis will be in zones adjacent to areas of mi- <br />.ping activity and areas with the greatest potential for <br />resource and/or disturbance by activities. <br />Specific observation routes and areas of study, time and <br />frequency of monitoring and specific observation methods <br />will be finalized after commencement of monitoring acti- <br />vities. The initial program which will commence upon per- <br />mit approval is outlined as follows: <br />o Observation Transects: Walking transects will <br />be conducted on not less than a seasonal basis <br />in three portions of the permit area: (1) Ri- <br /> <br />parian area along East Salt Creek, (2) Grease <br />wood and Canyon bottom area along the access to <br />
