VEGETATION AND WILDLIFE ANALYSIS <br /> SHAFFERS CROSSING PROPERTY <br /> The vegetation on the subject property consists primarily of <br /> a pioneer type of vegetation. Included in this category are dis- <br /> turbed ponderosa pines in a sub-climax stage. Along with the <br /> pines are small amounts of mountain mahogany, current bush, <br /> 1 oregon grape and some scrub oak. The floor of the vegetated <br /> ' area has bear-berry and a few normal western grasses such as <br /> western wheat grass and intermediate wheat grass along with some <br /> ' yellow and sweet clover. <br /> ' The large wildlife on the subject property consists of an <br /> ' occassional deer, usually only passing through and an occassional <br /> black bear foraging for food from nearby garbage deposits. Fox <br /> ' and raccoon have been seen in the vicinity. Smaller animals that <br /> ' may be seen, and are known to frequent the area are the little <br /> pine squirrel, the least chipmunk and the white footed deer mouse. <br /> ' The normal occurence of bird life varies throughout the season. <br /> ' Winter birds that have been observed or are likely to be seen on <br /> the property are the juncos, jays, chickadees, magpies, crows, <br /> ' and ravens. During summer, one may see the western tanagers, <br /> ' robins , warbling vireos, pine grossbeaks, song sparrows, the <br /> titmouse, western towhee and many others. Predator birds such <br /> tas red tail hawk, sparrow hawk and nocturnal predators such as <br /> ' the great horned owl. 11 <br /> 1 <br /> 71 I <br />
