S%HIBIT D
ESCLAtlATION PLAN

1. Overburden: All soil will be removed down to gravel.
Overburden will be used to raise low places in meadows and to
cover dikes for replanting. 2-4" will be compacted on lake
bottom for wa retention. Each phase to be completed the
following year.
2. Maximum gradient of reclaimed slopes: Disturbed slopes will
be 3:1 for pond except where undisturbed slopes are sod
covered and already about 2:1-3: 1.
3. Topsoil replacement depth: 6-12" of soil on all dikes and
proposed islands. Most of the existing dike is already
covered with 12" or more of topsoil. The west side of the pit
has topsoil and grass sod below projected water line.
4. Site seeding: Dikes and islands will be seeded in mid-summer
before monsoons, or late fall. In our area, spring runoff is
too strong and too much rain for new roots, whereas we have
rain three or more days a week in mid-summer. We plant all
meadow grass and alfalfa with the best results then. Trees
will be planted on proposed islands in April or May. Trees
will be planted with compost, grass will be planted in rich
topsoil and fertilized with 10-20-10 when eight weeks old. A
harrow will be used to mix soil and seed
5. Seed and tree quantities and species: On dikes, meadow
grasses of timothy, brome and clover will be used. Plume
grass will be planted here and there along the shoreline for
wildlife cover. Weeping willow, weeping birch, blue spruce
and sugar maple will be planted about every 100' between the
stream and pond on existing dike, and 2-6 mixed trees on the
proposed islands. Grass: 40 lb. mix an acre; 40-50 lbs. max.
needed; Trees: 30-50 outside in reclaimed area around the
lake.
6. Application method for grass: Broadcasting to be followed by
harrowing.
7. Kind of mulch: Use of mulch is not needed except for 2' out
around trees, and on 2' of slope to waters' edge (grass hay).
