MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR RECLAIMED AREAS
Colorado Yampa Coal Company may graze some of the reclaimed parcels
prior to bond release to promote the utilization of the areas as
rangeland and pastureland. The reclaimed areas will be allowed to
develop at least one full year prior to livestock grazing activity. In
order to ensure the appropriate level of forage utilization, the
management plan will include flexible stocking rates and current
livestock management practices. Before grazing is initiated on the
reclamation, the Division will be notified.
As of 1987, Colorado Yampa Coal Company will begin grazing about 2350
acres annually at Mine 2. The area includes reclamation, cropland,
pastureland, and native vegetation. Based upon the available forage
calculations presented in Minor Revision 87-20, CYCC will be able to
graze about 4,000 steers in the area. It is anticipated the area will
be utilized twice each year, once in the early summer for 3 to 4 weeks
and again in the late summer or early fall for 3 to 4 weeks.
•
MR 89-42 Permit Renewal 780-i36-1 Revised 08/18/89
