area was examined. It indicated a flow of 82 gallons per
minute and contained 22~ solids.
These affected areas of about one acre will be somewhat
pie-shaped, and when their near limit of capacity is
reached, another pie-shaped section will be cleared, and a
proper embankment of compacted material constructed.
The areas abandoned for tailings fill can then be
partially reclaimed, thus minimizing the work and cost
involved in the final reclamation.
It is our belief that this procedure will minimize
cost, reduce loss of water through evaporation, improve dust
control efforts and generally contribute to a more efficient
operation.
Tailings dam embankments will be constructed not
steeper than one vertical to three horizontal.
Topsoil will be stockpiled for future use in
reclamation.
Our calculations indicate that the 4.6 acres of
tailings disposal is adequate in size to accommodate
tailings disposal needs for 10 years at a proposed rate of
full production of 125 tons per day.
DUST CONTROL
Dust control of the tailings disposal area is expected
to be greatly enhanced by the fact that the pond area is
sheltered by a dense growth of pines and is located on the
lee side of a hill which affords considerable protection
