Section 785.19 (d) Continued.
I •
uses found in Section 779.22 for areas Lying within the Kerr Permit
Area and in recent Colorado Agricultural Statistics published by
USDA (1979). Table 51, Forage production and livestock carrying
capacities by SCS Range Site, contains information to demonstrate
that these areas are of minor value in terms of the agricultural
significance of the area.
Field crop production of Jackson County, Colorado, was reported in
1977 to be a total of 72,500 acres in grass hay and a total of 800
acres in alfalfa hay. Yields were reported to be 0.9 tons per acre
for grass hay and 0.75 tons per acre for alfalfa hay (USDA, 1979).
Hay yields in 1977 were calculated to be $4,134,500. Since the
agricultural acreage of these three areas constitutes only a minor
percentage of the agricultural cropland in North Park the overall
significance of these alluvial valley floor areas is of only minor
• importance to the entire area.
Type"and"Quantity "of 'Agricultural'Activities"Fdiind'in'AdJacent
Alluvial Va110y Fluora
The type of agricultural activities encountered in alluvial valley
floor areas of the Bolton Draw, Canadian River, and Illinois River
are presented on Map 27, North Park Land Use. The only agricul-
tural activity found in Bolton Draw in the area corresponding to
the alluvial valley floor is that of irrigated pasture. In the
Canadian River the alluvial valley floor lands are used for ir-
rigated cropland and pastureland with most lands being cropped for
hay for used as winter feed. In the Illinois River the alluvial
valley floor lands are used for pasture and grazing land, irrigated
hay meadows and as wildlife habitat.
Current farming activities that could be affected by mining are
found on Map 27, North Park Land Use, and Map 2, Kerr Mine and
.
