• ' • ~^ ~,
Mr. Don A. Rapp - 4 - April 10, 1985
4. Although numbers of pine tree seedlings to be planted in two areas are
given, the acreage of these areas is not given, and thus the planting
densities are not clear. What are these planting densities, and why were they
chosenY Furthermore, "pine tree seedlings" is not definitive. Please specify
the species to be used, probable seeding sizes, planting methodology, etc.
These parameters can be expected to influence the expected percent survival of
planted seedlings. Thus, if the target density is, for example, 40 trees per
acre, considerably more than 40 seedlings may need to be planted. The S.C.S.
may also be helpful in this regard.
Exhibit F
1. Proof of final Fremont County zoning approval (in some written form) will
/~/C~ be needed before the Board considers this application. Please submit this as
~ soon as it is available.
I realize that I have asked a fairly large number of detailed questions in
this letter. However, the reclamation of a rock quarry can be a complex task,
even for a fairly small permit area. Given the fact that this site has been
previously disturbed in some parts of the permit area, some of my questions
may be fairly easily answered for those areas of old disturbance. On the
other hand, questions concerning the stability of a final reclaimed surface
are relevant to any redisturbed area.
Pleae feel free to call me if you have any questions concerning this letter.
Sincerely,
V/
Mark S. Loye
Senior Reclamation Specialist
MSL/ygt
Doc. 9289
