•
Actual mining/excavation activities will commence at the ramp location shown on the Mining
Plan Map(at east permit boundary)and progress south then west then northwest and finally back
to the northeast. If slightly more than 3 acres are excavated during each crusher mobilization then
approximately 10 to I I years will be required to fully develop the pit. If less than 3 acres are
mined during each crusher mobilization or market demands are low, 15 to 20 years may be
required to fully develop the site.
(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be reclaimed during each phase.
As already stated, approximately 3 to 4 acres may be mined during each stage or phase of
activities at the site(phase or stage being a crushing equipment mobilization to the site). It is
anticipated that there will be concurrent reclamation activities carried out on portions of the
excavated pit, as operationally feasible, once sufficient space is available for both crusher
equipment and topsoil replacement and seeding activities. A total of 20 to 24 acres minimum
within the excavated pit floor area will be necessary in order for concurrent reclamation activities
so that sufficient room remains in the pit floor area for crusher equipment staging and product
stockpiles.
It is possible that smaller areas may undergo concurrent reclamation as the pit floor size increases
if product stockpiles are reduced and/or equipment and loading hauling areas are limited. It is
estimated that within the first five(5)years of operations at the proposed site, 3 to 5 crusher
mobilizations may occur. If 3 to 4 acres are mined with each mobilization the size of
disturbed/mined area could range from 9 to possibly 20 acres total. As previously stated in(i)
above: If slightly more than 3 acres are excavated during each crusher mobilization then
approximately 10 to I I years «ill be required to fully develop the pit. If less than 3 acres are
mined during each crusher mobilization or market demands are low, I S to 20 years may be
required to fully develop the site.
(iii) An outline of the sequence in which each stage or phase of reclamation will be
carried out.
(1) Topsoil stockpile stabilization (broadcast seeding) will occur on topsoil stockpiles left
longer than one growing season.
(2) After 3 to 4 crusher mobilizations, subsequent equipment mobilization will be relocated
to the excavated pit floor and the initial disturbed surface(approximately I I acres) will
be seeded. This initial equipment and stockpile area(shown on the Mining Plan Map)
will be the last area to be mined and eventually reclaimed. It is estimated that up to five
(5)years of operations may be required to allow for sufficient room in the excavated pit
floor for crusher equipment and product stockpiles to be relocated from the"initial"
surface disturbed area to the pit floor area.
(3) As the size of the excavated pit floor area increases, some parts of the pit floor and 3:1
slopes will have topsoil replaced and be seeded concurrently with continued mining and
crushing activities.
(4) As mining proceeds and the size of the pit floor increases, reclamation activities will
follow the general direction of the mining across the pit floor leaving room for product
stockpiles and crushing equipment. Topsoil will be replaced in these areas and on
adjacent 3:I slopes, seedbeds prepared, and the areas seeded.
(5) At any time or phase/stage of operations at the proposed permit area, areas within the
excavated pit floor may undergo reclamation if these areas are not needed for equipment
staging or product stockpiling.
