PAR RESPONSE
Revised May, 1987
• Revegetation to appropriate land use
• • Protection of hydrologic balance
Removal of Structures and Facilities
Since the decision to abandon the No. 9 Mine was made prior to the
installation of any portal related facilities, there are no structures
and facilities to remove from the site. However, the dragline which
sits adjacent to the highwall will be removed to allow reclamation of
the site. The dragline is owned by Houston Oil and Gas Company and
therefore, the dragline will be removed at their expense.
Covering of Coal Seams
All exposed coal seams will be covered with a minimum of four (4) feet
of material.
• Backfilling and Grading
The final exposed cut of the Williams Fork Strip Pit will be backfilled
with the overburden material that lies adjacent to the cut. Track
dozers will be used to push the material into the cut. This will reduce
the highwall slope to a maximum of 3H:1V. The present "disturbance
topography" as well as the proposed reclaimed topography
(post-disturbance) are presented on the Williams Fork Strip Pit
Reclamation Plan Map (Map E 24). Disturbance and post disturbance
cross-sections are presented on this same Map. The planned
post-disturbance drainage profile (D-D') and plan view are shown on the
Post-Disturbance Drainage Profile D-D' Map (Map E 24A). This profile
configuration is similar to natural drainages found within the permit
area as shown by profile WF3-W F3' on Map E 246. No slopes on the
planned reclaimed area will exceed 33.3% (3H:1V). The planned side
slopes are less than those found in natural drainages within the permit
area as shown by profiles WF1 - WF1' on Map E 24C and WF2 - WF2' on Map
• E 24B. Location of all natural drainage cross- sections may be found on
Map E 24D, Reclamation Plan. The total amount of material to be
-2R-
