United has proposed a seed mix for the wetland area but will work with the Grand Junction office of
the CDOW and SCS if any changes are desired in the types of plants along the shoreline. A distance
of 6 feet on either side of the shoreline will be made into wetlands. The lake perimeter is 2470 feet,
therefore, the total wetland area created will be approximately 0.68 acres. The permittee and the
landowner commit to not stocking the small lake with any fish species that could be a thzeat to the
native species in the River.
Worst Case Reclamation Costs and Timetable
The worst case cost for reclamation of the site will occur when the mine reserves have been fully
depleted in both phases, and overburden must be replaced to backfill the slopes of Phase 2 and all
topsoil must be replaced on the 2.2 acres of wetland and dry range part of the permit area. This
area would then need to be seeded, mulched and fertilized. The stages of the reclamation plan and
the worst case reclamation costs are given below:
Task# Description Time (days) Cost
1 Move and place overburden in Phase 2 area to 14 $28,380
backfill slopes to 3H:1V.
