Savage and Savage conducted a site invesfigation of the existing vegetation on site. This report is
included in Appendix B. The majority of the site is dry range dominated by alkali sacaton and inland
saltgrass. There is an occasional cottonwood tree and rubber rabbitbrush shrub. Average cover in
this area is 25%. See Appendix B for details.
7. Wildlife
As shown on Map Exhibit B-1, the site is located in the flat field between the golf course to the
nozth and the abandoned pond left from past gravel mining to the south. There are other ponds to the
east and northeast from past gravel mining. The area also contains dry range and [he residences of
the landowners as well as corrals for horses. A slew exists a short distance to the west on land con-
trolled by the Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
Savage and Savage conducted a site investigation of the wildlife use of the site. This report is in-
eluded in Appendix B. Species of special concern is also addressed in this report.
Overall, the site is not in an area of important wildlife use that would be affected by the operation.
At the end of the reclamation of the site, wildlife use will be enhanced from the creation of wetland
borders around the lake. The expected lake perimeter is 2470 feet. Using a width of wetlands of 12
feet, this means that 0.68 acres of wetlands would be created as a result of the mining and reclama-
tion of this site. The sheltered nature of the surrounding area and private land status of the site also
contribute to the value of the wetlands.
19 Road Pit 10(02 8
