box cut and will advance towards the northwest and southeast. The area shown on Exhibit 12-2 as
"Mined Out" was mined during the time period of 7990 -September, 1998. The mining sequence will
be altered somewhat from that shown on Exhibit 12-2. The slide that occurred at Topsoil Stockpile N
has raised additional stability concerns for the topsoil. Therefore, mining will not advance any further
towards Inorthwestl the topsoil stockpile from the current 11-1-93 pit configuration. This will remain
in effect until the topsoil stockpile is respread or moved to a new location. This does not affect the pit
to the north of the stockpile lupper half of the pill. Mining will continue towards the southeast, as
shown on Exhibits 12-2 and 12-3, until the recovery line is reached in the year 2000. Auger mining
will then commence in the spdng of 2000 at the far west end of the final highwall near Pond 006 and
progress to the east, as shown on Exhibit 12-3. All aspects of the angering operation are described in
. Attachment 12-Z, Auger Mining. It should be pointed out that scrapers may be used in cropline areas to
either strip or pre-strip a pit for the dragline. This procedure will be conducted in areas where
disturbance beyond the cropline is to be avoided due to sediment control restraints or to prevent
spoiling into a drainage. This will complete mining in this block.
Coal haulage in this block will be conducted on the Mine Entrance Road and (Haul Roads A, F, and H.1
The empty trucks will be brought into the mine site via the Mine Entrance Road and then traverse Haul
Road A and, in some cases, into the pit area. From Haul Road A or H, the trucks will branch off to in-
pit ramps, depending on the location of coal loading operations. The coal beneath a portion of Haul
Road A will not be recovered until 1995 as shown on Exhibit 12-2. This will allow access to the upper
block of coal to remain open. The loaded trucks will continue through the pit area and down Haul Road
F to the Mine Entrance Road. Weather or unanticipated production problems may cause some deviation
of the haulage scheme and loaded trucks may be hrought back down Haul Road A.
Although Haul Roads B and C may never be constructed, [hey will remain a part of this plan. In the
event that unforeseen problems arise with the proposed haulage system, roads Band/or C may have to
be constructed as alternate routes.
Middle Block (Deadhead Routel~ Mining in the middle block will commence in the fall 1992. The
dragline will sidebench the first pi[ on the east side and cast the spoil behind, or [o the west, of the
dragline. This will be accomplished as the dragline moves from the Lower Block to the Upper Block.
The next cu[ in this area will be accomplished as the dragline moves back to the Lower Block from the
Upper Block. The final cut in this area is expected to take place in 1993 on a subsequent move from
one area to the other. Exact timing of the mining of this block is subject to the mining operations in the
Upper and Lower Blocks and may deviate from the above schedule.
Coal haulage from this area will be conducted via Haul Road A and Haul Road G. Haul Road A will be
extended to the Upper Block on or near the Deadhead Route area as shown on Exhibit 12-2.

7
Revised 04/00
r
