<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />EXHIBIT B <br />Site Description <br />The site is an existing pit permited under File No. M86-111. <br />The site is located approximately 1/2 mile north of the Colorado-New <br />Mexico state Line in the San Luis Valley. It is composed of floodplains <br />and low terraces adjacent to the Costilla River on an alluvial valley floor. <br />The primary soils are "Aquents and Ustorthents". The Ustorthents <br />are deep moderately well drained soils. The Aquents are deep poorly <br />drained soils. <br />The site is located between 7,600 and 7,900 feet MSL. <br />Average precipitation is about 7 inches, the average annual air <br />temperature is about 41°F. and the soils are frost-free from 95 to <br />100 days. <br />Vegetation at the site includes the following species: <br />Bluegrama, Sleepy grass, Big sagebrush, Greens rabbitbrush, <br />Skunkbush, Squirreltail, Kochia weed, and Indian ricegrass. The <br />percent of ground cover is approximately 25 ~. <br />Wildlife visiting or living on the site include Cottontail <br />rabbit, Jack rabbit, and Morning doves. No endangered species <br />inhabit the area. <br />No permanent structures are located within 200 feet of the j <br />affected area. <br />
