Serv., Trout Unlirnired) <br />Response -The Colorado Division of Wildlife has reviewed the application and did no[ express any <br />concern about blasting impacts on Big Horn Sheep, other wildlife, or fish. <br />4. "Affected land boundaries and acreage aze not well-defined." <br />(D. Burch) <br />Response -The affected land boundaries and acreages submitted by the applicant, in response to the <br />Division's adequacy review, aze well-defined and meet the requirements of the Regulations. <br />5. "The proposed project should give some consideration to the effects of the mine on ripazian habitat." <br />(J. Greiner) <br />Response -The applicant has planned the operation so that all activities, except the construction of <br />two bridges, will remain outside of riparian habitats. The affect of the bridge construction on riparian <br />habitat will be minimal. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) and [he Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife (DOW) have reviewed the bridge construction plans. The Corps of Engineers has informed <br />the applicant that the bridge construction will be covered under a nationwide permit for small <br />constriction activities within waters of the United States. The DOW has approved the bridge <br />construction plans and says that any impacts will be minimal. <br />6. "The flood plain level of Tallahassee Creek was not addressed in the lay-out of the crusher and mill <br />sites." <br />(M. Brown, C. D. Fisher) <br />Response -The amended application has accurately delineated the 100-year flood plain of Tallahassee <br />Creek. All planned mining activities and structures (except the bridge abutments and approaches) are <br />located outside the flood plain. <br />"The operator is only proposing to use corrugated metal pipe culverts to construct road~railroad <br />crossings of Tallahassee Creek." <br />(S. Steers) <br />Response -The operator has changed his bridge constmction plans. The two bridges over Tallahassee <br />Creek are now designed to be constructed of concrete abutnien[s with steel girder's providing [he <br />spans. The approaches will be compacted earth fill, protected by riprap. The bridge plans and <br />
