The proposed future use of the affected
land is commercial. The owners envision a marine equipment
sales location with enough lake area (approximately 21.14 acres +)
to be able to demonstrate their merchandise, The alternative to
this plan is a private recreation area and a habitat that will
favor wildlife. In either case, the lake and Land area outside
of the plant site will be treated in a manner favorable to
wildlife. The plant site, approximately 4.12 acres +, will be
used for building and storage area in the case of the commercial
development or will be revegetated as an alternate plan in the
same manner as the perimeter lands. See map Exhibit F.
Two lakes are called for in the reclamation plan (see map
Exhibit F). The southern lake will contain approximately 1.67 +
acres of water surface on the affected land and the northern lake
will have about 19.47 + acres of water surface. It is hoped that
even if the reclamation is to commercial use, the lake to the
south, which is somewhat removed and more heavily revegetated, will
encourage habitation by native wildlife. It should be noted that
even though full-scale mining operations are under way at the
present time, ducks and geese are using open water areas along
the river.
The property will be mined in five stages, each five years
in duration except for the last stage which will last one year.
At the conclusion of each mining stage a reclamation phase
11
