+vidt a topsoil depth of 42 inches. Topsoil will be salvaged on one side of the trench and subsoil materials will be
salvaged on [he other side. Subsoil and topsoil will be replaced immediately after waterline installation.
Reseeding of the disturbed area will be conducted during the tirst appropriate planting period .
I3a[ch Weigh/loadout System
A batch wei~~h [rain loadout system and associated support facilities will be constructed generally southeast of the
Tipple 2 product stockpile and flood loadout facility formerly utilized as the primary means for loading [rains (see
Map 24, Surface Facilities and Freshwater Systems). The batch weigh system and associated facilities will consist
of a stacking conveyor, a stacktube, a coal stockpile, a reclaim tunnel, an escape tube, a reclaim conveyor, a motor
control center, associated powerlines, a new access road, and a batch weigh/loadout system building and
washdown water drain line to Pond C. The layout of the batch weigh system facilities is shown on Map 24.
Powerlinc construction for this facility will be addressed as a separate minor revision application. TCC will also
construct a sump, as previously approved in TR 95-20.
The stacking conveyor build from the existing Tipple 2 sample building [o [he batch weigh system coal stockpile
stacktube will be 54" wide, 520 feet in length, and will be constructed with three bents to support the conveyor.
Two of the bents will have hvo legs and one will have four legs. Spread footings will be used as foundations for
the bents. The conveyor will be supported by a bent placed just outside the existing Tipple 2 sample building.
Trusses will carry the conveyor out of [he existing building [o the stacktube situated above [he reclaim tunnel. A
head house mounted on top of the stacking tube will house the conveyor drive. A ++•alkway will run along the side
of the conveyor Conveyor foundations will be supported by caissons.
fhe stackuibe will he a concrete structure 14 feet in diameter and 115 fee[ tall. There will be twenty-six (26) 4' x
• 4' framed openings with hinged dust flaps in [he stacktube. The stacktube will accommodate a coal stockpile
approximately 300 feet in diameter at the ground surface and approximately 100 feet tall. The coal stockpile cone
will have a storage capacity of approximately 78,000 tons. Additional coal storage of 82,000 tons will be
provided, if necessary, by extending the pile in a southwesterly direction, resulting in a maximum of 160,000 tons
of coal storage at [he batch weigh site.
The stacktube and coal stockpile will be located above a reclaim tunnel. The tunnel will be below grade, 330 feet
long, and approximately 10' x 13' in cross section. A sump will be constructed at [he low point of [he tunnel.
An automatically controlled sump pump will convey collected water from the reclaim tunnel to ditch
D- I. Approximately 3,500 yards of excess material will be excavated in construction of the reclaim tunnel. The
excavated materials will be stored adjacent to the site by respreading to provide a uniform surface and to create
uniform drainage from the site toward Ditch D-I.
The escape tube will provide alternative access to the reclaim tunnel. The tube is designed to be approximately
150 feet long and will be constructed of 48" diameter CMP pipe or other suitable material. The escape tube
structure will be equipped with an exhaust fan and a door.
The reclaim conveyor will carry coal from the reclaim tunnel [o the batch weigh/loadout building. the reclaim
conveyor belt will be 72" wide and approximately 700 fee[ long. Above grade there will be a walkway on the side
of the am+•eyor. The reclaim conveyor will be constructed similarly to the stacking conveyor and will be
supported above-ground on three bents. Two of the bents will be located on the batch weigh system product pile
side (south) of [he existing overland conveyor. The third bent will be located on the north side of the existing
overland conveyor. Trusses supported on a double bent will support the reclaim conveyor behveen the overland
• conveyor and the batch weigh/loadout building.
The ne++' MCC building will be constructed at the location depicted on Map 24. The building will be a steel-
framed, metal-sheathed building constructed on a concrete foundation. Building dimensions will be 20' x 20~ x
MR 97-154 2.05-56 Revised 9/9/97
