inch polyetlrvlene LP line will be buried from the tank ro [he new bathhouse and will include a vaporizer located
• some ~0 feet from the tank.
The Fish Creek Borehole Area will be used for discharging mine water. Facilities to be constructed at the Fish
Creek Borehole Area are shown on the following maps: Map 26, Fish Creek Borehole Area Facilities and Access
Road; Map 27, Fislt Creek Borehole Area Access Road Profile; Map 28, Fisli Creek Borehole Area Access Road
Profile and Typical Cross Sections; and Map 32, Fislt Creek Borehole Settling Pond Plan view and Cross
Sections. The mine water discharge boreholes will be required in 1989. Total disturbed area required for the
above facilities would be less than 10 acres. Access to the sites would be as shown on Map 29, Reclamation.
Standard maintenance procedure such as preventive maintenance programs, painting, and lubrication shall be
utilized throughout the life ofall the structures. All facilities will be removed and the area reclaimed to its original
use at the completion of mining activity except to the extent alternative postmining land uses are approved.
EASTERN MINING D1STR[CT
Mining in the Eastern Mining District will require the installation of a new dewatering facility and three fans. One
of the fans will be installed in entry 0, and approximately 600-800 fee[ in by the portal mouth. The location of this
fan places i[ within the current surface facilities area, therefore, no new disturbance will be associated with the
installation of this fan. The approximate location of the fan is on the bench between [he stoker coal storage area
and the materials storage area. This fan will be of similar size and capacity as the existing main mine fan. The
location of the fan is shown on Map 23. The installation of [his fan was approved in MR94-107
Two additional fens will he installed in 1996 or 1997. The location of the fans are shown nn Maps 17A, 18A, and
• 23. The fans will be constructed at [he end of panel 9 Right, and will be used to augment the main mine fans. The
installation of the fans will require the construction of an access road into the site, establishment of a construction
site, establishment of a topsoil stockpile, running a powerline to the site, and inscribing a diversion ditch upslope
of the construction site. Approximately 2 acres will be disturbed by the upgrading and extension of dte road and
construction of the fan site.
A new dewatering facility will be constructed at the location shown on Maps 17A, ISA, and 23. The facility will
he located above the lowest point in the Eastern Mining District. It is anticipated the facility will be constructed in
either 1995 or 1996. The facility will be comprised of an access road, dewatering well, water line leading to
settling ponds, hvo settling ponds, aeration channel, control building, powerline, and discharge point. the flow
from the pond will be pumped from the pond to Foidel Creek in a buried line. A discharge permit application will
be filed with the Colorado Department of Health to allow discharging from this facility. This facility will be
similar to the Fish Creek dewatering borehole system except that only one dewatering +vell will be constructed.
Approximately 3.4 acres will be disturbed during the construction of this facility and it associated access road.
Mine Water Return Line
A water line will be installed from the EMD dewatering facility roFCM-2 to route water back into the mine for
underground operations. The location of this water line is shown on Figure 16 1, 1996 Seismic Lines and Mine
Water Discharge Return Line, East Mine District. Approximately 7,300 feet of 8-inch HDPE pipe will be buried
at 5 to 6 feet below grade from the dewatering facility to FCM-2. This pipe will he left in place when no longer
required.
. Trenching operations will be conducted using a trackhoe with a working area assumed at 40' in width.
Approxnnately 7 acres will be disturbed in the construction of the water line. The trench will pass through hvo
major soil types: Binco silq~ clay loam and Coche[opa loam. Approximately 4,200 feet of the water line will pass
through the Binco group with a topsoil depth of 30 inches and 3,100 feet will pass through [he Cochetopa group
MR 97-I ~4 2.05-5~ Revised 9/9/97
