In order to reduce the amount of refuse hauled to the refuse pile TCC will pump [he thickener underflow directly into
• the underground works.'fhe material will be pumped into the mined out longwall panels in the Eastern Mining District.
The underFlow will be pumped via a 4" line to an existing fresh water borehole into the mine. The bottom of the
borehole will be plumbed into a pipeline terminating at a discharge point located behind the seals in the EMD. The
process is described in greater detail in Rule 2.05.3(9).
Afrer the low quality coal is processed, clean coal is transferred directly onto the overland belt or transferred via
conveyor to a clean coal stockpile adjacent to the preparation plant. A front end loader will be used to transfer the
stockpiled clean coal to a bin on the overland belt. The clean coal will then be transferred via the overland belt to the
tipple. The processed clean coal may also be utilized in the production of stoker coal with the stoker coal stockpile
located on the west side of the preparation plant. The refuse material generated during the washing process is
transferred via a conveyor belt to a refuse bin. This refuse is then placed in the approved refuse pile, or when sufficient
low quality coal has been removed from the pit the refuse will be returned to the pit. As an initial result of processing
the low quality coal material, coarse material consisting primarily of 4 inch plus waste rock is screened from the low
quality coal and diverted to a chute and temporary storage area on the north side of the preparation plant. Typically,
this material is periodically placed in the approved waste pile along with the coal refuse generated from the
•

TR 01-39 2.05-30.1 8/10/0]
