2) The above seeding rate is for seed which is broadcasted and then raked. <br />If the seed is drilled, the above rate should be reduced by one-half. <br />3), The planting meclium may be deficient in plant nutrients. A soil <br />analysis should be obtained to determine the correct amount and kind <br />of fertilizer to apply. <br />4) A mulch should tie applied after seeding, to improve plant survival <br />and conserve moisture. An application of 3,000 pounds air dry <br />weight of straw mulch per acre should be applied, or a commercially <br />prepared mulch material used. If straw is used, it should be <br />adequately crimped or anchored into the soil. _ <br />5) The disturbed areas should be shaped and smoothed before seeding. <br />Slopes should be: back-sloped to no steeper than a 3:1 and preferably <br />6: 1. The steep slopes of the pit area, do not lend themselves to <br />back-sloping, and will in most cases have to be left steep. <br />6) Seeding should be done in Lhe late fall, (mid October on). <br />_If you should need additional information, please feel free to contact us. <br />
