DATE June il, 1979 <br />' ~ ^ INDIVIDUAL ^ GROUP ~ UNIT OF GOVERNMENT <br /> SITUATION: You requested soil and vegetative information as required by the Colorado <br />' Mined Land Reclamation Board (Exhibits I E J) for expansion of a present <br /> <br /> gravel pit located approximately 25 miles south of Rangely, along Colorado <br /> <br />I' . <br />~~ <br />.~ <br />.. <br />Highway 139. <br />INFORMATION PROVIDED: Following are descriptions, interpretations, recommendations, <br />5066~ED'SO~E-'FIONpS/=and a mao for the gravel oit area, concerning soil and <br />vegetative data: <br />-Exhibit I - Soil Information. <br />The actual gravel pit: area occurs on soil unit 65E and the stockpile area, occurs <br />on soil unit 33• <br />a) Soil unit 65E, Moyerson stoney clay loam, 45-65 percent slopes. <br />This soil is a well-drained material formed in residuum from shale on <br />_ ridges and hillsides. The surface layer is a silty clay about 5 inches <br />_' <br />..1 <br /> <br />thick. The substratum is a silty clay underlain by shale of about 18 inches. <br />The soil is rated as poor for use. as topsoil for area reclamation, due <br />to clay content .end excessive sodium.
