3-19
• A trench will be dug across the channel. The trench will be approximately twice as long as
the channel is wide and at least three feet below the bottom of the channel. The slab of
concrete will be placed on its edge in the trench bottom and will be backfilled so that the top
edge of the slab will be even with the bottom of the channel. After backfilling tfie slab, the
channel will be reformed and the rip-rap will be replaced over the top of the slab.. This method
will prevent water from cutting down through the channel bottom or diverting around the rip-rap
while vegetation along the channel is developing. The method of placement will also allow the
solid concrete excavated from foundations and sidewalks to be beneficially utilized in the
reclamation of the project rather than being broken up and disposed.
fF channel errosion is evident after initial reclamation, other methods my be'utilized in
eliminate errosion. These methods may include the use of gabions, temporary fabric fences or
• similar devices.
Sedimentation ponds and temporary diversion structures will be backfilled, reclaimed and
abandoned as required. The hydrological balance of the permit area will be returned to a state
very closely resembling that prior to effecting the area.

M~ Volume 1 4-2996
