2.14 TEST OF RECLA*.fATION SUCCESS
The vegetation chapter (Chapter 1{) contains statistically adequate
measurements of vegetation cover and productivity and measurements of species
diversity for affected and reference azeas for the Seeker ?.rea Ytines complex. This
study will probably be repeated in the tenth yeaz following final reclamation to
demonstrate that reoegetated azeas aze within applicable statistical limits when
compared with reference azeas for cover and productivity. Species diversity
measurements will also be made to demonstrate that a diverse, effective vegetation
cover of different life forms (grasses, (orbs and shrubs) has been established on
reoegetated azeas.
Northern Coal Company will monitor revegetation success for the last two
years of the 10-year liability period as required by Rule 4.15.7(3).
Northern Coal Company will have a program similar to the Evaluation of
Reclamation Program submitted here as Exhibit M-2 to be performed in
years 3, 5, and 7 of the liability period required by Rule 4.15.1(4).

Northern will monitor its reseeding every two years
until such time as the standards to be set by the
Division in Stipulation 11 are achieved. Representative
sampling of at least five areas within the Permit Area
will be monitored for the following parameters:
1) Areal cover
2) Herbacious production
3) Woody plant density
4) Species diversity
•
REV lsep 8 ~16 ~9~ (~- ( ~
