Re onset
1. Characteristics of the fill for the Northern No. 1 Haul Road - The
• Northern No 1 (FF) Haul Road was an existing structure which was modified to
meet Class I Haul Road Standards. the design specifications for the road
can be found at exhibit C-13 (see question ~~2 immediately below).
The road did require some additional fill material which was obtained from
the Wrthern No. 1 mine site construction. All fill was from the local
area. (The balance of the question deals with the P and J seams and is not
covered here).
2. Exhibit C~ is being resubmitted with charges to reflect Northern's
present mining plans and a proper certification. It can be located in >this
Pppendix . Exhibit C-13 has been updated and certified and is located _
in this submission. C-14 was submitted only for location
of culverts and that information can be found in C-13 so C-14 should be
disregarded.
3. Not applicable - pertains to the Northern No. 2 and No. 3 Mines.
4. Raw data is given for roads on the cross sections and computerized
digitized points contained in Northern Coal Company's "Rienau No. 2 Mine
Increased Production hbdification" delivered to CMLR on April 10, 1981. If
you should desire any further information on this plan, please advise us.
5. The refuse disposal area was constructed in accordance with permanent
program perform ante standards pursuant to CMLR approval of a modification of
• the Northern No. 1 Mine Permit on Cocember 17, 1980.
6. Not applicable - Northern is no longer seeking approval of the Milk
Creek Loadout during this five year permit term.
7. The-Rienau No. 2 mine has one access road which begins at State Highway
13/789, leads to the bathhouse-office parking lot (330 feet), switches back
in a simple loop (230 feet) and terminates at the portal bench (about 70
feet). This road was in existance when Northern became the operator of this
mine in 1977. The construction techniques are unknown.
The Northern No. 1 Mine haul road is the only other road involving detailed
construction methods. The haul road was designed by International
Engineering Company, Inc. for Northern in conformance with 30CFR817.150
through 817.153 (page C 1i4 Volume I June 1980 submission), and all work was
done in accordance with Colorado Division of Highways M 8 S Standards,
January 1980 and all compaction met AASHID T99.
8. The cross-sections depicting the final surface configuration of the
Rienau No. 2 Mine are contained in Northern Coal Company's "Rienau No. 2
Mine Increased Production Modification" delivered to CMLR on April 10,
1981. It should be noted that no haul road exists for this mine. The
Northern No. 1 cross~ections are shown in Volume VII, Chapter M, Page M-4.
Cross-sections on 100 foot itervals are located in Exhibit M-1. At this
point in time the surface owner of the Northern No. 1 Mine leased acreage
•
2
