Pillars, previously developed, may be split, as shown on <br />Page 13 up to 20' wide, as to allow for access, belt <br />installation, or aircourse development provided a turn <br />row of timbers on 9' centers is installed prior to the <br />first cut of the split. Once the split has been devel- <br />oped and fully and permanently supported any timber <br />supports set during the development of the split may be <br />removed. <br />11. Timber or posts supports shown in the pillar recovery <br />sequences Pages 16 to 26 may be substituted with equiva- <br />lent roof support means. Two installed cribs may be <br />substituted as breaker rows in lieu of the two rows of <br />timbers shown on these removal sequence pages. All <br />posts and cribs shall be installed tightly and on solid <br />footing. <br />During pillar recovery, no one shall proceed inby any <br />set breaker rows or turn rows used to separate <br />permanently supported roof or active workings from the <br />cave area. <br />C. During remote control mining the depth of the cut shall <br />be determined Erom the face to the inby edge of the <br />shuttle car's canopy. The shuttle car operator shall <br />remain under permanently supported roof at all times. <br />When adverse roof conditions are encountered or antici- <br />pated, the cutting depth shall be reduced if such condi- <br />tions are related to the depth of the cut. <br />2. A conspicuous reference mark on the continuous mining <br />machine or some other visual means shall be provided for <br />the workers to determine when the maximum depth of the <br />cut is attained. <br />3. At all times during mining and place changing cycles, <br />persons shall be located undec permanent support so no <br />portion of their body is exposed to sudden movement of <br />any mining equipment or pinch points. Persons shall be <br />in clear view of machine operators. <br />• 9. During mining opecations, the continuous miner operator <br />shall position himself on the clearance side of the <br />working place. <br /> <br />
