Alluvial Wel/ Abandonment
When the mine was reclaimed in 199?, the caretaker's trailer on the adjacent property
was also reclaimed and the landowner requested that ever~nhing be removed from the
property. This included the building, trash, waste and the alluvia] well, which is
shown on Exhibit P-3. As described on Page 65.06 of the permit, this well was to be
used to determine surface water and alluvial water upstream from the mine. Its location
was approximately ]0 feet from the Creek and never showed any difference in water
quality from that of the Creek itself, other than a slight variation in temperature, no
more than a few degrees.
The well was only ten feet deep and consisted of a 3 feet diamter concrete culvert
placed upright with holes to allow water infiltration. The well was backfilled for the
full ten feet depth and was reclaimed according to the CDMG rules.
Currently, the upstream sampling will be conducted by a new 2" or 3" diameter pvc
pipe installed in the immediate proximity of the old well.

Permit Rene~ro! 3 !!/97 p ~gr{3
