Snowmass Mine Loadout Facility (cont.)
•
heavily vegetated for survey activities.
of the conveyor belt and truck unloading
heavy.
These areas were pasture land. Survey
a~~ea was spotty as snow cover was quite

Results: Survey procedures located the presence of a single site on the location
of Lie ruck unloading area. According to the projectile points found, the
site dates from the Archaic period. Only spotted areas of the site were visible
as the snow cover was at least 70%. Additionally, approximately 4 quartzite
flakes were scattered on the slope just below the mesa flat. Due to the snow
cover, the site perimeter and feature identification was impossible. The site
location is in the SE:/NWy./NW; of Section 29, TIS> R88W, Garfield County,
Colorado.
Recommendations: It is recommended that monitoring take place for all construction
activity con ucted in areas where vegetation is a visually inhibiting factor,
basically that area north of the rtver. Additionally, re-evaluative investigations
of the area south of the Roaring Fork River are to be conducted as snow cover
decreases. The located site is to be revisited, fully documented, and dealt
with according to recommendations at that time.
I hereby certify that the above investigation conforms with the requirtments
of Executive Order 11593 and to applicable Historic Preservation Laws.
!~ ~~
Christian ier
