3-17
bottom, dumped rock shall be placed to pervent excessive erosion
• and to promote plant growth.
The immediate disturbed permit area shall be restored in a similar
manner to provide suitable drainage when compared to pre-mining
topography and land use. Temporary measures shall be employed to
control erosion and sediment production, while hydrologic
restoration is completed.
3.4.2 Water Impoundments
The sedimentation reservoir shall not be removed and reclaimed
until suitable vegetative cover has been established. The
material excavated during reclamation of the sedimentation
• reservoir shall be used to establish more moderate slopes along
the sides of the reservoir.
The fresh water ponds and the slurry ponds shall be regraded and
backfilled to establish approximate pre-mining contours. Topsoil
shall be placed, seeded and mulched as standard practice with
temporary erosion control measures amployed until a vegetative
cover is well established. Special measures shall be taken to
remove the bentonite liner from the slurry ponds and the gravel
cover from the fresh water ponds, and haul this material to the
refuse disposal area for placement and compaction as part of the
inert capping. Note that the impermiable liner used in the fresh
water ponds shall be removed and disposed of as required.
1/17/86
