8. Mining will occur in five phases as delineated on Exhibit C. The processing and
product stockpile azea and driveway will be consistent throughout the life of the
mine, comprising approximately 1.5 acres. Mine disturbance per phase is as
follows and includes both the active mine area and process/stockpile/driveway.
-Phase Size/Acrea e
One 11.5
Two 11.5
Three 12.0
Four 15.6
Five 15.8
9. The gravel deposit exists to a depth of 50 to 60 feet. Only the top 10 feet
maximum will be mined. The nature ofthe stratum immediately beneath the
material to be mined is a continuation of the gravel deposit.
10. Perimeter berms will be constructed around the processing plant and concrete
plant azea to prevent overland flow of storm water onto the site as well as retain
storm water on site (for less than 72 hours). The Hartbuckle soil series displays
excessive drainage thus reducing the likelihood of standing storm water in the
vicinity. The applicant will utilize best management practices for handling fuel,
lubricants and raw materials for the concrete plant including but not limited to
designated storage azeas, maintaining sorbant materials on site in the event of a
spill, utilizing vendors for equipment fueling and maintenance. The applicant will
maintain a Storm Water Permit with Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment, Division of Water Quality.
11. The proposed site is not within the floodplain according to the Park County
FEMA map excerpts provided. The operation will be located south of the
designated floodplain.
12. Gary Thompson of W.W.Wheeler and Associates indicates the project will
require approximately 3.0 acre-feet with only 1.65 acre-feet consumes as
evaporation loss in the gravel washing process and in the concrete batch process.
The water source will be an on-site well with pump rate less than 4 gallons per
minute. Please refer to the encloser containing more specific information.
13. The applicant understands The Division will provide a reclamation cost estimate.
14. Warranty Deed research revealed no indication of severed mineral rights. During
the Pazk County zone change for the site in 2005, it was required of Mr. Allen to
perform public notice of intent to claim minerals on the subject property. During
the public comment period, no parties came forward to contest or claim mineral
rights.
CAN/iirro~rn~~~L~ll //,\IIL~rrlc~LniN/~5~ ~~~~„
410 Macon Ave. --Canon City, CO 81212
www.envalternatives.com • e-mail: eai~bresnan.net
Phone: 719-275-8951 • Cell: 719-429-8950
