If not, a drought tolerant, easily established mix such as perennial rye
(Lolium perenne) with strawberry clover (Trifolium fragiferum, var. palestine) would
be adequate.
For permanent berms:
For the shrub plantings on top of the berms, recommend woods rose (Rosa
woodsii), chokecherry (Prunus virginiana), skunkbush sumac (Rhus trilobata), and
golden currant (Ribes aureum).
6. General instructions regarding seeding and care:
All seedings should be mulched with approximately 4000 lbs. of weed-free straw spread
and crimped into the seedbed to a depth of 4 inches, with tracked equipment.
For drilling, a grass drill with depth bands and press wheels to a planting depth of/z to
1 inch should be used. Unless irrigated, seeding should be during August or from 15
October to 30 April (when free of frost).
Weed control should be mechanical (mowing) after establishment, usually on or about 1
June before annual weeds have a chance to seed. Other control (chemical) should be
coordinated with the land owner and County weed and pest control agency.
Livestock need to be kept off all areas for several years after seeding.
Four States Aggregates, LLC 30 DEC 2000
Application for Permit: Line Camp Pit FSA-LCP-D1-001
