~ i
(SNYDER QUARRY)
(Reclamation Plan)
(C) Answer #1--Topsoil is included in the cost as noted in Exhibit
"L", it is also included in the Timetables--Exhibit "Ef". As
to types and condition of topsoil, prior examination of "top-
soil" at the Snyder indicates 2" to 6" of rocky decomposed
limestone, with generally weathered limestone to 10 feet deeper.
See copy of Aro testimony provided for clarification. After
using stockpiled topsoil on berm, it is probable that topsoil
will have to be imported from fines recovered at sand plant
to begin re-vegetation on inside 25 acres.
Question #2--No mention of slopes.
Answer #2--The design contours on the Reclamation P1 a:1 indicate
slopes being l:l, which include the benches and terra~~es. At
the bottom of the pit there is an area of 5.3 acres which is
flat. This ratio pertains to the interior 25-acre ex~=ractive
site and not the berm slopes, which will be more gent:.e.
Question #3--What type of park? Should incorporate Soil Con-
servation Service and Wildlife Report.
Answer #3--The park we had in mind for this particular- area
was similar to an amphitheater or a coliseum. Some other
suggested uses would be water storage or possibly commercial
storage within the underground mined area.
Question #4--Look at the seeding mixture.
Answer #4--Again, there has been some question regarding the
seeding mixtures of the Pikeview, Queens Canyon Quarry and
the Snyder Quarry. Keeping in mind that these three quarries
are within a four-mile area, their elevation is primarily
the same, and the soils are almost identical, we feel that the
mixture that was indicated by Dr. William Berg and the Soils
Conservation Service is adequate and should work. Such have,
in fact, been proven to work in areas already planted in the
upper Queens area.
I,9e have supplemented Exhibits A and C1 to reflect actusl permit
area boundaries, within the original tract.
