• ~ks and Gesso, LLC
EXHIBIT G -WATER INFORMATION
This section describes the existing water resources of the project area, potential
impacts on water resources due to mining and post-mining uses, and water
requirements for the project. Local surface water resources in the vicinity of the
project are shown on Exhibits B and C. Wells within 600 feet of the proposed
mining property are shown on Exhibit C-1. The nearest watercourse is the Fulton
Ditch, which is adjacent to the property to the west. The South Platte River is
approximately'/. mile to the west.
Surface Water
Before mining activity can be initiated, approximately 60 acre feet of standing
water must be discharged from the historic mining depression. Aright to
discharge to the Fulton Ditch or to neighboring unlined ponds is being negotiated
and will be established before dewatering operations begin. A CPDES discharge
permit will also be obtained prior to beginning dewatering activity.
Because of the depression formed by historic mining activity, site surface water
drainage, that occurs during mining activity, will be into the pit. Discharges due
to accumulated surface water runoff and to on-going dewatering will be in
accordance with a CPDES permit. After initial dewatering, settling ponds will be
established within the mining area, so that surface runoff can be recycled, if
necessary, and settleable solids will be removed prior to discharge.
All appropriate permits related to surface water runoff for the mine will be
obtained, including a (CPDES) Discharge Permit from the State of Colorado,
Division of Water Resources. A Storm Water Management Plan will also be
developed for the site.
124 Estates -Regular 112 Application 01029.WD
124`" Estates Partners I5 August 2001
