~ks and Gesso, LLC
After final grading, 6 inches of topsoil will be placed on all disturbed areas.
Contour furrows will be placed on any slopes to reduce erosion and encourage
stable plant growth. Topsoil will be disced, prior to seeding, if it has become
compacted.
Revegetation
All surface areas disturbed by mining activities will be topsoiled and drill seeded
for final reclamation with the seed mixes shown in Tables E-1. This seed mix
has been developed based on recent correspondence with the US Department of
Agriculture, which recommended the mix for use on a similar site. The seed mix
specified in Table E-2 is for use in areas requiring a rapidly growing seed mix
and will be used if a temporary topsoil cover is needed.
Area surrounding the water storage facility will be mowed for at least two years
after seeding to help establish regenerating stands of grasses and to control
weeds. Seeded areas will be mulched with straw or hay, as needed. Fertilizer
will be applied to areas of the site where poor nutrient availability is indicated by
failure of grasses to become established.
Reclamation Schedule
Reclamation will generally follow mining by about 6 months; i.e., when mining is
nearing completion in Area 1, claystone material will be ripped from the floor of
the pit and backfilling to create slopes and a liner. Backfill will occur clockwise
around the excavated area and will be completed, with all reclamation activity,
approximately six months after mining has been completed.
124 Estates -Regular 112 Application 01029.WD
124`" Estates Partners Iz August 2001
