flexibility that will allow normal changes to the mine layout and
production in the future without necessitating major equipment
changes.
9.2.1.2.6 Flume water System
A low pressure water system is normally used to provide fluming
water for the development areas and where necessary to provide
additional dilution water to aid fluming in specific main roadways,
where flume gradients are very low and on turns.
9.2.1.2.7 Slurry Pumping System
In a mine or part of a mine that has coal located above drainage
level, (approximately 1/3 of NCIG's recoverable coal is above
drainage level) a slurry pumping system is not required. Other
equipment requirements in these areas are fairly simple, such as
auxiliary and main fans and flume.
•
9.2.2 Conservation of Coal
It is NCIG's intention to ma=:imize the exaraction of coal found
within the area and any additional economically minable coal which
has been located within the coal lease boundary and would be mined
in future years of the operation.
Historically, the production ~tnd extraction levels in hydraulic
mines have proven to be better than those experienced in conven-
tional room and pillar or long wall mines. Maximizing extraction
insures that further impact on the land through future mining and
reclamation operations will be unlikely.
NCIG - Coal Ridqe #1 4-8 ABC/1145/910509 •
