From a historical viewpoint, the pre-mining land use, <br /> prior to any underground coal mining, was probably undeveloped land. <br />The location and extent of the area disturbed by previous surface and <br />underground coal mining operations in the area to be utilized by the <br />Coal Gulch Mine is shown on the Vegetation Map (Map 3). The approximate <br />past underground mining limits are shown on the Geology/Hydrology Map <br />(Map ]). /~ I s~ »~ j'.: za y _ S~J <br />Existing Land Use and Land Use Classifications Under Local Law <br />The La Plata County Commissioners in conjunction with the La Plata <br />County Planning Commission have designated the lands within the permit <br />and adjacent areas for uses of "mining". Peerless Resources will work <br />with La Plata County to conduct mining and reclamation activities; <br />Peerless Resources has requested a transfer of the Arness-McGriffin Coal <br />Company Special Use Permit to cover the planned underground operation of <br />the Coal Gulch Mine.
