Because
Lightner Creek colluvium material and the associated wells located in
this area will not be affected by the planned Coal Gulch mining
operations, water tables have not been identified. The wells along
Lightner Creek are used for domestic purposes of the homes found in this
valley.
3
The ualit of subsurface water in all wells should be resented if
oval a e. Mining
• operations in the Coal Gulch area will not affect these wells.
Consequently, the Division and Peerless Resources, Inc. decided that no
water quality data would need to be obtained from these Lightner Creek
wells.
4. This section needs more detail and evidence of the lack of
subsurface water. There is no factual evidence resented that
there is indeed a ack of groundwater in the proposed permit area.
See Comment 4 under subsection 2.04.6.
RESPONSE:
As mentioned above, Peerless Resources, Inc. does not dispute the fact
that subsurface water is found in the permit and adjacent areas.
However, the subsurface water is found in extremely limited quantities.
No wells have ever been developed within the permit area. Therefore,
Peerless Resources, Inc. respectfully submits that there indeed is a
lack of useable and substantial quantities of groundwater in the
• proposed permit area.
f~AR 0 4 1486
Z.oy -~71~
