Banks and Gesso, LLC
Sediment Pond Fines
Settling and sediment pond fines will be periodically cleaned out and the material will be
used as backfill. These pond areas will be backfilled and reclaimed as part of final
reclamation.
Final Grades (Reclaimed Slopes)
Backfilled areas and setback areas will be graded to approximate pre-mining contours
with a slight slope to the south-southeast to maintain pre-mining drainage patterns.
Pit slopes will be graded to comply with the Division's standards for pond slopes (i.e. no
steeper than 3:1 from 5 ft. above to 10 ft. below the pond water level and no steeper
than 2:1 below that}. Atypical cross-section of these slopes is shown on Exhibit C-3.
Revegetation (Maintenance and Monitoring)
After topsoil has been placed in an area to be reclaimed, the surface will be plowed prior
to seeding. This will occur on both flat and sloping surfaces. Planting will take place
between November 15`and April 30"'.
Flat and gently sloping areas will be drill seeded and pit slopes will be broadcast seeded.
The table below outlines the species and seeding rates to be used for reclamation,
based on consultation with the NRCS. Refer to Attachment A -NRCS Reclamation
Plan Letter for more information.
Table E-1: Seed Mix

Species
Variety -
PLS/acre
at 100%
% of species
in mixture -
PLS seeding rate per
species/acre
alkali sacaton Salado 1.5 30 0.45
Switchgrass Blackwell 4 25 1.00
Galleta Floret 11 15 1.65
western
wheatgrass Arriba or
Barton 16 30 4.80
The above seeding rates are based on drill seeding. These rates will be doubled if
seeds are broadcast.
St. Barbara Sand and Gravel Mine 03028
Trans Colorado Concrete i 5 February 19, 2004
